1/13/24 Welcome message
Happy new year, and a special welcome to Julia, a new alto 2! Today, January 13, is National Make Your Dreams Come True day! Aren’t we fortunate to be a singing community that works towards making many dreams—peace, harmony, joy, as well as acknowledgement of all the curves life throws—become closer to reality every time we get together.
Here are a few alto-related things to help the Fundraiser Term start off well.
COMMUNICATION
I strive to send messages sparingly since your inbox will soon be filled with various choir-related messages. I will write “NWFC: “ in the subject line.
I recommend looking things up on the Alto page of the choir website. (Directions are at the end of this message.) There are four sections (links) that are pertinent to this term. All are dated 1/12/2024. In the “Winter 2024 Alto Notes and Messages”, I’ll post any e-mail messages I send to the alto section (starting with this one), plus very important notes from rehearsals (there may not be any)—these mostly point out changes Deeji makes to the music.
Carol and I will do our best to get recordings posted to the “Winter 2024 Alto Part Recordings” over the weekend after a piece is introduced on a Wednesday. If you go there now, you’ll find Alto 1 and 2 recordings for Let the River Run.
Please feel free to contact Carol or me via e-mail, text, or in person. (Contact info will be on the roster, which you’ll get soon.) We are all great resources and support for each other, so be open to asking and receiving inquiries and comments among the section. Deeji asks that, during rehearsal, any “direction/critical comment", such as pointing out the altos aren’t getting a correct note, etc., go through section leaders. Everyone is welcome to ask clarifying questions.
SECTIONALS
Carol and I have tentatively scheduled alto sectionals on February 10 and March 2 (Saturdays), 10am- (approximately) 12pm. Sectionals are optional, extra practices for just the alto section. You’ll get more information as we get closer to each date.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Leann and Carol
